Geraerts ahead of Düsseldorf game: "The best possible scenario"

Schalke coach Karel Geraerts is looking forward to the support of numerous fans in the second division west duel at Fortuna Düsseldorf. "It's the best possible scenario for us. The stadium will be full. A lot of our fans will be there. I've heard about 15,000. Maybe there will be more," said the 41-year-old on Thursday.

The Belgian will be without midfielder Danny Latza for the game on Saturday evening (8.30pm/Sport1 and Sky). The 33-year-old has calf problems. Right-back Cédric Brunner is also out of the question, at least for the starting eleven. The 29-year-old has not played since the end of September, but has at least been able to train fully with the team again this week. "It's still too early for the first eleven this weekend," said Geraerts. This does not apply to goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann, who was recently injured. He is available again.

Schalke have won two and lost two of their four league games under Geraerts. Ahead of the 14th matchday, the Gelsenkirchen side are in the relegation zone. Düsseldorf are fifth.

Geraerts mentioned that a high number of FC Schalke 04 fans are expected to attend the Bundesliga 2 game against Fortuna Düsseldorf, potentially over 15,000. Despite the absence of midfielder Danny Latza and right-back Cédric Brunner, Schalke coach Karel Geraerts mentioned that goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann is available again.
