Georgia appellate court postpones trial over election interference involving Trump.

The legal issue in Georgia revolves around Trump's actions to overturn the election results in the pivotal state following his defeat to Biden in 2020. In a phone conversation with Georgia's election officer, the former president had pressed for locating the necessary 11,780 votes needed for his triumph in the state.

Earlier in March, the judge handling the proceedings rejected a plea from Trump and several other defendants to remove the leading prosecutor and dismiss the charges. Previously, the public learned of a private relationship between the main prosecutor and the special investigator.

Trump and his co-defendants contested the judge's verdict. This week, the appellate court announced a hearing on their appeal on October 4th.

Trump and a total of 18 other defendants were charged in Georgia last year in August. The 41 counts against them encompass conspiracy to commit fraud, conspiracy to commit perjury, the submission of false documents, and inciting breach of fiduciary duty. So far, four defendants have entered guilty pleas, preventing potential incarceration.

In the past week, Trump made history as the first former US president to be convicted in a criminal trial. The jury founded him guilty in the case surrounding hush money paid to a porn star on all 34 counts of the indictment.
