GDL warning strike: Cancellations and delays expected in MV
Rail travelers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern must be prepared for cancellations and delays. The German Train Drivers' Union (GDL) has called for a nationwide warning strike from Wednesday evening (10 p.m.) to Thursday evening (6 p.m.). According to Deutsche Bahn, it expects massive effects on regional and long-distance services.
According to a Deutsche Bahn spokeswoman, almost all regional services in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be suspended from Wednesday evening. According to Deutsche Bahn, the RB11 (Wismar-Rostock-Tessin) and RB12 (Rostock-Rövershagen-Graal-Müritz) lines and the rail replacement service with buses between Warnemünde and Rostock will not be affected by the warning strike. Among other things, the tracks on the line will be modernized until the beginning of December.
According to the DB spokesperson, there may be individual cancellations even before the strike begins. Some trains would be taken out of service in a controlled manner to ensure that they would be where they were needed after the end of the strike, she said. According to DB, all trains should be back on schedule by Friday morning. The GDL and Deutsche Bahn have been negotiating a new collective agreement since last Thursday.
Due to the nationwide warning strike by the German Train Drivers' Union (GDL), consumers who rely on rail services in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern may face increased tariffs for alternative transportation options, such as buses or taxis, during the cancellations and delays. Furthermore, the disruption in rail traffic could lead to longer commute times and inconvenience for consumers relying on the RB11, RB12, and certain long-distance services.
