Energy - Gas consumption in Schleswig-Holstein higher than a year ago

Gas consumption in Schleswig-Holstein increased in November compared to the same month last year. 2994 gigawatt hours (GWh) were consumed by private households and industry last month, the network operator HanseWerk announced in Quickborn on Tuesday. This means that consumption was 413 GWh higher than in November of last year.

According to HanseWerke, however, gas consumption in Schleswig-Holstein has been reduced by 15.2 percent since the beginning of this year compared to the average of the four previous years. A total of 4,171 GWh has been saved - this corresponds to the annual consumption of around 208,500 small single-family homes, each with a gas consumption of 20,000 kilowatt hours.

"The savings are partly due to milder temperatures, but also to the war against Ukraine and rising prices," the press release states. It remains important to save energy, even if the supply situation is relatively relaxed at the moment. "This is because the suspended gas supplies from Russia can only be partially replaced so far. Every kilowatt hour of gas not consumed is beneficial - for the wallet, the environment and also for security of supply in the north."
