Crime - Garbage can and shopping cart as barbecue - police intervene

In Erfurt, three men tried to barbecue over a garbage can and on a shopping cart - and were sent off by the police. A 45-year-old man and two other men set fire to a municipal garbage can on Friday and tried to grill chicken legs over it, police said on Saturday. The police extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. According to the information provided, the 45-year-old had an alcohol level of more than two per mille and was already known to the police. His companions were 39 and 25 years old.

The trio later searched for scrap wood on a grass verge and piled it into a bonfire. This time they used a shopping cart as a barbecue. Once again, the police extinguished the fire - and took the lighters from the three men. They were also banned from the premises. According to reports, they now face possible fines as well as costs for the damage caused and the police operations.
