Weather - Gale-force winds and risk of tornadoes: Will public viewing take place?

The Public Viewing for the EM-Quarterfinals in Baden-Württemberg could potentially fall into the water on Saturday - threatening weather with thunderstorms is expected. Tornados are also not excluded according to the German Weather Service (DWD). The greatest tornado danger is reportedly in the extreme west of Baden-Württemberg, in Baden specifically. The weather complex will mainly pass through Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

In the western part of Baden-Württemberg, storm or hurricane gales with wind speeds of approximately 120 kilometers per hour and hail may occur, according to DWD on Saturday.

People should prepare for heavy rain with up to 50 liters and more per square meter within fewer hours. With temperatures between 28 and 34 degrees Celsius, it will be very hot and humid. In the morning until the afternoon, it will mostly remain dry, with dense cloud formations forming at times.

From the afternoon onwards, it will be uncomfortable, according to the meteorologists. Severe to extreme thunderstorms will pass over the western half of Baden-Württemberg - first over South-, then over North Baden. By midnight, the storms should dissipate.

There have been heavy rain showers in the past few days as well: with flooding, uprooted trees due to the storms, and cleared fan zones in Stuttgart.

The state capital, according to a DWD spokesperson, will not be hit as hard as the western part of the country on Saturday. In Stuttgart, rain and stronger winds are expected.

However, better weather is only expected again on Sunday - but still rain and occasionally thunderstorms. It will be changing between cloudy and sunny with peak temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius. According to DWD meteorologists, it will rain, thunder, and there will be occasional thunderstorms with strong gales on Monday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler with 17 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Weather forecast Baden-Württemberg (DWD), 6:42 am

The potential threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday extends to Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, as reported by the German Weather Service (DWD). The Rhineland-Palatinate region might experience storms with gale force winds, similar to those forecasted in the western part of Baden-Württemberg. Preparations should also be made for potential tornado danger in the extreme west of Baden-Württemberg, particularly in the Baden area. Unfortunately, even on Sunday, rain and occasional thunderstorms are expected in Rhineland-Palatinate, with temperatures only slightly higher than Saturday. Furthermore, extreme weather conditions continuing into Monday may bring strong gales, rain, and thunderstorms, with temperatures remaining relatively cool.
