- Fussy job: shelter looking for cat strollers

In search of volunteers, the animal shelter in Hildburghausen is relying on an unusual job posting. They are looking for people aged 16 and above who would like to volunteer to pet cats. The animals are well taken care of at the shelter. "But a shy cat remains a shy cat, if... yes, if it doesn't get the chance to get used to these peculiar tall two-leggers."

Petting cats is important to increase the chances of adoption, said Monika Hahn, chairperson of the South Thuringia animal protection association. "We have young people helping us, just like other shelters, but currently, there aren't enough." There are many cats at the shelter at the moment, partly due to the holiday season. So far, two people have responded to the appeal.

The animal shelter in Hildburghausen encourages more volunteers to interact with the cats, as this could potentially help in their adoption. To address the current shortage, Monika Hahn is actively seeking more volunteers from the Animal shelter.
