- Further disruption of train services following vandalism

In Berlin, train disruptions continue due to a fire in a cable shaft affecting long-distance, regional, and S-Bahn services. Regular service should resume Wednesday morning, a railway spokesperson said. Currently, damaged cables are being replaced and tested for functionality.

The fire is attributed to vandalism, preventing switches from being set correctly. The affected section is between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Spandau. The railway announced that Spandau station will be skipped, with long-distance trains rerouted via the northern outer ring to Gesundbrunnen and the Hauptbahnhof. The ring line will run single-track between Beusselstraße and Westend, with trains every ten minutes.

Preliminary investigations rule out a technical cause. The S-Bahn, operated by the railway, points to vandalism. The police have not yet commented on the cause.

The technicians are working diligently to repair the damaged cables caused by vandalism. Once the repair is completed and the functionality is confirmed, normal service is expected to resume.
