- Further demolition work planned after hotel collapse in Kröv

For the investigation into the cause of the hotel collapse in the Mosel town of Kröv, the building will continue to be demolished. Further demolition work is planned for Monday, a police spokesman said. This was the result of a meeting with the expert responsible for determining the cause earlier in the morning. Additionally, the debris will continue to be sifted through. "This will take some time," the spokesman said.

No statement can yet be made about the cause, the spokesman said. The expert report must be awaited for this. Last Tuesday evening, a entire floor of the hotel collapsed. Two people died: a 64-year-old woman and the 59-year-old hotel operator. Seven other people were trapped in the rubble for hours.

Injured Dutchman transferred

An injured Dutchman who was involved in the incident was transferred to his home country on Monday for further treatment. His wife announced this on social media. The 26-year-old father is one of the seven injured people who were rescued from the rubble. His wife and their two-year-old son were also rescued after hours, but they only suffered minor injuries. The wife called on social media for people to pray for her husband.

The 26-year-old Dutchman was previously treated in a hospital in Trier on the intensive care unit. According to the police, he was still in an artificial coma on Sunday morning. Relatives of the Dutch family spoke at the service in Kröv on Sunday and thanked the rescue services. "We trust that he will fully recover. The doctors are good," said the father of the injured man, Auke Hoefnagel, in a speech at the end of the service.

Despite the ongoing demolition and sifting through the debris, the exact cause of the hotel collapse remains unknown due to the misfortune. The awaited expert report will provide insights into this misfortune.
