2nd league - Fürth continues its winning streak in Braunschweig
SpVgg Greuther Fürth have continued their winning streak in the 2nd Bundesliga and increased Eintracht Braunschweig's relegation woes. The club from Franconia won 1:0 (1:0) at the club from Lower Saxony on Saturday and celebrated their fifth win in a row. They also kept a clean sheet for the fifth time in a row. Julian Green scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute with a penalty.
However, Fürth's lead was controversial: Eintracht defender Ermin Bicakcic is said to have fouled Armindo Sieb. The Braunschweig bench, headed by coach Daniel Scherning, protested vehemently. Referee Daniel Schlager (Hügelsheim) showed the yellow card twice.
After the break, Lower Saxony pressed hard, but did not seriously threaten the goal of visiting keeper Jonas Urbig. The most dangerous shot came from Maurice Multhaup in stoppage time (90.+5). The Franconians hardly did anything offensively and routinely managed to hold on to their narrow lead.
Fürth remain fifth in the table with 27 points, but are now just one point behind HSV in the relegation places. Braunschweig, on the other hand, remain in 17th place with eight points.
