Funkwerk, a communication tech company based in Thuringia, enjoyed a strong beginning to the 2024 business year. Between January and March, their revenue soared by 15.8% to reach a whopping 32.4 million euros. Part of this growth was attributed to the acquisition of Radionika Sp. in Poland in mid-2023, which added approximately 3 million euros to their income. Additionally, Funkwerk has recently integrated Elektrotechnik and Elektronik Oltmann GmbH from Berlin into their operations, with contributions largely from their LED display systems.

The firm specializes in creating communication technology and safety/information systems for railway companies. Known for tech-based solutions, their recent financial performance showed growing strength. Their customer orders increased significantly, rising from 39.4 million euros in the previous quarter to 47.9 million euros. By the end of March 2024, their total order backlog amounted to a massive 188.8 million euros, up from 164.1 million euros a year earlier. Despite this progress, the company faced financial challenges. The result before interest and taxes (Ebit) decreased from 4.0 million euros to 2.5 million euros. Unfortunately, there was no announced net profit.

Funkwerk currently employs around 730 people, a rise of 90 from the previous year. Their financial objectives for 2024 include achieving a turnover of between 158 and 165 million euros, and an Ebit of 18 to 20 million euros.
