Funds received for the construction of documentation center
The money for the construction of the documentation center for Saxony's regional and economic history is ready. According to the Ministry of Regional Development, the funding decision for 16.5 million euros has been received by the district of Leipzig. The center is to be built in Borna. In a three-storey archive building, holdings, some of which are several hundred years old, are to be permanently secured.
"The preservation of the archives and their future use for the public and research is of great importance for the region," explained State Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU). The oldest documents date back up to 500 years. "These testimonies to a long industrial culture must be preserved for future generations."
The construction of the documentation center aims to protect and showcase Saxony's rich industrial and historical heritage. This investment in the region's past will contribute significantly to the understanding of its industrial evolution over centuries.
