After some heavy downpours hit the Kassel area in mid-August, more people impacted by the rains now have a greater chance to secure financial help. Plus, they've got extra time to apply – the deadline's been extended until October 6, as per the Kassel government presidency's announcement.
The torrential rains in early August caused havoc in various neighborhoods like Reinhardshagen, Trendelburg, and Wesertal, as well as towns such as Bad Karlshafen and Hofgeismar.
On August 20, the Kassel government presidency unveiled a financial aid program. Subsequently, Hesse amended its rules regarding natural disasters' damages. This new policy is effective since July 1, providing assistance to those in the Kassel district as well. Also, forestry and fisheries businesses have been added to the list of eligible recipients of financial aid, according to reports.
