Funding for dementia and care projects

The deadline for applications to the Bavarian Ministry of Health for funding for care and dementia projects is December 31. This involves home care for those affected, as the ministry announced on Wednesday. The funding requirement is "a coherent overall concept that demonstrates new care structures and concepts and contains statements on the target group, planned measures, costs and financing". Sponsors and initiatives can apply until the end of the year.

In recent years, support services for people with dementia who live at home have developed considerably, said Health and Care Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU). She is convinced that there is still room for development in this area. "My aim is to further improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their family caregivers."

According to the information provided, an awards committee decides on eligibility for funding. The selected projects are scientifically monitored. The funding is initially intended for three years, but can be extended to a maximum of five years.

Around 450,000 people with care needs and 270,000 dementia patients are cared for at home in Bavaria.

The funding for these care and dementia projects aims to promote new health care structures and concepts, potentially reducing the financial burden on families. Successful applicants will receive funding for up to five years, with a focus on improving the quality of life for individuals with dementia and their caregivers.
