Traffic - Full closure of the A1 near Wuppertal lifted
After the A1 near Wuppertal had to be closed due to slabs of ice falling from a bridge, the route has been reopened. The full closure between the Wuppertal-Nord junction and Wuppertal-Ronsdorf in the direction of Cologne was lifted on Sunday afternoon, according to Autobahn GmbH.
Drivers had reported that ice was falling from a bridge, said a Düsseldorf police spokesperson on Sunday morning. The highway had been closed since Saturday evening as a result. No one was injured. A specialist company was supposed to remove the icicles from the bridge. Originally, the closure was to remain in place until early Monday morning.
