A fugitive criminal from Spain has been caught by the police in Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Ansbach district). According to police reports on Thursday, a European arrest warrant had been issued for the 36-year-old. He had been sentenced to nine years in prison by a Spanish court in 2020 for a sexual offense committed in 2015. However, the martial artist had evaded the Spanish authorities and was wanted throughout Europe.

According to the police, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) provided information to the Rothenburg ob der Tauber police station that the man could be in the town in central Franconia. He was arrested on November 17, brought before a judge the next day and then taken to a prison. Extradition proceedings are currently underway, said a spokesperson for the Nuremberg Public Prosecutor General's Office.
