Handball Bundesliga - Füchse Berlin win in Lemgo - Drux celebrates comeback

The Füchse Berlin handball team remain in touch with league leaders SC Magdeburg. The capital city club won 32:29 (17:16) at TBV Lemgo Lippe on Saturday evening. Paul Drux was another reason to celebrate. The captain celebrated his comeback after more than seven months out injured. Berlin's best scorers were Mathias Gidsel with ten goals and Lasse Andersson with seven.

The game was initially evenly poised and both attacking lines dominated. The visitors repeatedly had problems pulling back and so conceded too many easy goals. In addition, rebounds repeatedly ended up with Lemgo. As a result, neither team was able to pull away at first.

Coach Jaron Siewert then called a timeout with the score at 10:10. And it seemed to work. After a short 3:0 run, the Foxes were able to open up a slight gap for the first time. However, the problems in the center of defense persisted and Lemgo was able to reduce the deficit again by the break. Drux also celebrated his comeback in the 14th minute after tearing his Achilles tendon.

Lemgo often took the goalkeeper off in favor of another outfield player during attacks. The Foxes were able to exploit this at the start of the second half and score easy goals after winning possession. They were able to open up a five-goal gap after 36 minutes (22:17). The fact that the Berlin club was able to hold on to its lead until the end was mainly thanks to numerous saves by goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev.
