Füchse Berlin advance to the semi-finals of the Super Globe

The Füchse Berlin handball team have reached the semi-finals of the IHF Super Globe in Saudi Arabia. On Thursday, the Bundesliga club beat Kuwait SC in Dammam by a clear 37:28 (18:16). In the semi-finals on Saturday, the Foxes will face either FC Barcelona or Al Ahly Sporting Club (15:30/handall-globe.tv). Berlin's best scorers were Mathias Gidsel with 13 goals and Jerry Tollbring with seven.

Backcourt player Lasse Andersson was back in the starting line-up for the Bundesliga leaders. The Dane had been absent from Wednesday's 48:34 opening win against San Fernando HB. However, Andersson was barely able to make an impact and was soon back on the bench. He was almost emblematic of his team's play at the start.

The Foxes found it very difficult against the robust Kuwaitis, made a number of technical mistakes and hardly had any grip in defense. As a result, they trailed most of the time. It was only shortly before the break that the Bundesliga club was able to open up a slight gap for the first time with a 4:0 run - thanks to a number of saves by goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev.

Kuwait equalized again after the break (20:20). However, the Foxes responded with a 9:2 run midway through the second half - the preliminary decision. That was because Milosavljev's defense now stood firm. And they did not let this lead slip away until the end.

The triumphant Füchse Berlin handball team will aim to continue their success in the IHF Super Globe semifinals, as they prepare to face their opponent either FC Barcelona or Al Ahly Sporting Club on Saturday. Following their victory over Kuwait SC in the quarterfinals, Füchse Berlin's best scorers, Mathias Gidsel with 13 goals and Jerry Tollbring with seven, played a crucial role in securing a spot in the next round for Foxes Berlin, who will look to reach the final in Kuwait SC's home turf.
