FTI suspends all group trips until July 5.
If you've booked a trip with the troubled tour operator FTI for the next month, listen up: They're shutting down everything from now until July 5th.
The financial trouble at tour operator FTI has forced them to scrap all their upcoming package tours. The insolvency administrator, Axel Bierbach, explained that these trips posed too much uncertainty for the travelers. Right now, he and his team are discussing potential takeovers with other tour companies.
Companies like TUI, Dertour, and Alltours are enticing FTI's customers with flexible cancellation policies in hopes of grabbing their business. In fact, some of them are even talking to hoteliers about taking over FTI's contracts.
With FTI being the third largest German tourism company to go bankrupt, the void might not exist for long, industry experts predict.
Yesterday, Bierbach shared that his main concern is the 60,000 people who are currently traveling in FTI's destinations. "Our top priority is ensuring these travelers can safely finish their vacation and return home in an orderly manner," he stated. Fortunately, the German Travel Security Fund is there to help out customers who have already begun their package tours.
