Bundesliga - FSV Mainz 05 starts the new season

Football-Bundesligist FSV Mainz 05 has started the preparation for the new season. Coach Bo Henriksen was able to welcome the majority of the team for the training kick-off at Bruchwegstadion. The loaned player from Bayern Munich, Armindo Sieb, was also present, as well as returning player Paul Nebel, who had been on loan at Karlsruher SC for the past two years.

Several professionals are still missing

The Austrian newcomer Nikolas Veratschnig will join the team next Monday after training sessions with the U21 team of his country. Brajan Gruda, who had been training with the German national team for the European championship, will resume training with Andreas Hanche-Olsen and Jae-sung Lee in mid-July.

The return of Philipp Mwene, who was recently eliminated from the European Championship with Austria in the round of 16, and Silvan Widmer is still uncertain. Widmer is playing for Switzerland in the European Championship quarter-final against England on this Saturday.

New signing Kaishu Sano, whom Mainz had previously signed for four years, was also absent. The 23-year-old Japanese player received a vacation due to the already completed season in his homeland and will join the team training on July 21.

Their first test game will be played by the Rheinhessen next Saturday against TSV Langenlonsheim/Laubenheim from the A-Klasse Bad Kreuznach.

  2. FSV Mainz 05 will face TSV Langenlonsheim/Laubenheim from the A-Klasse Bad Kreuznach in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, for their first test game of the season, joining clubs like Karlsruhe SC in German soccer.
  3. Despite the absence of several key players, including Philipp Mwene who was recently eliminated from the European Championship, Mainz 05's coach Bo Henriksen was able to organize a successful start to the team's preparations.
  4. During the training sessions, newcomer Nikolas Veratschnig, who will join Mainz 05 from Austria after training with the U21 team, and Paul Nebel, who had been on loan at Karlsruher SC, were present, boosting the team's morale.
  5. Japanese player Kaishu Sano, who recently signed a four-year contract with Mainz 05, was absent for the training kick-off, as he had already completed the season in his homeland and will join the team training on July 21.
