Soccer Bundesliga - FSV Mainz 05 signs Japanese player Sano
Football-Bundesligist FSV Mainz 05 have signed Japanese national team player Kaishu Sano. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder joins from the J1 League's second place team, Kashima Antlers. As Mainz 05 announced, Sano signed a contract until the summer of 2028. Both clubs have agreed on keeping silent about the transfer details.
"Kaishu Sano will strengthen our midfield with his ball security, technical skills, his stamina, and his fighter mentality," said Sportvorstand Christian Heidel. Sano will join the Mainz training sessions after his vacation on July 21. He made his debut for the Japanese national team at the end of 2023.
"FSV Mainz 05 paid attention to me as a player and not only saw my strengths but also potential in my development. It has always been my dream to play football abroad, the Bundesliga is something special in Japan," said Sano. Mainz 05 started their preparation for the new season on this Wednesday.
Sano's new team, 1st FSV Mainz 05, hails from the city of Mainz located in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The Soccer Bundesliga club has successfully acquired the services of Sano from Kashima Antlers, a Japanese J1 League team. Sano's transfer to the Bundesliga marks an exciting new chapter in his career, as he has expressed his desire to play soccer abroad.
