Frisch and Schmidt voted out and left the parliamentary group
Following his dismissal as chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate AfD parliamentary group, Michael Frisch will make a statement this Friday (12.00 noon) in Mainz. Together with his party colleague Martin Louis Schmidt, the 66-year-old will also explain why the two have decided to leave the parliamentary group. At a parliamentary group meeting on Wednesday, 46-year-old Jan Bollinger was elected as the new parliamentary group leader, after which disagreements between Frisch and Bollinger became apparent.
Bollinger accused Frisch of being unable to accept democratically made decisions and agreed elections and called on Frisch and Schmidt to give up their seats in the state parliament. Frisch in turn accused Bollinger of a breach of trust, saying that agreements had not been kept. Bollinger had already replaced Frisch as head of the state party in 2022. Following the resignation of Frisch and Schmidt, the AfD parliamentary group in the state parliament in Mainz now only has six members.
After his removal as chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate AfD's parliamentary group and the resignation of his colleague Martin Louis Schmidt, Michael Frisch will address the reasons for their departure during a press conference in Mainz on Friday. The AfD parliamentary group in the state parliament in Mainz is now left with only six members following this significant shift within the political parties.
