- Friedrich is in the sprint final - medal sure

Lea Sophie Friedrich is set to conclude the Olympic track cycling competitions in the sprint final, securing a medal. The 24-year-old triumphed in the Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in the semi-finals against Dutch rider Hetty van de Wouw, winning in three races, and will now face New Zealand's Ellesse Andrews in the final.

Friedrich has thus secured the first German individual medal in cycling since Kristina Vogel, who won gold in the sprint in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. This is Friedrich's second medal at the Paris Summer Games, having previously won bronze in the team sprint with Emma Hinze and Pauline Grabosch. Hinze was eliminated in the sprint quarter-finals.

Lea Sophie Friedrich's victory in the sprint final will make Germany proud, as the event is taking place in France. After her impressive performance against Van de Wouw, Friedrich aims to continue her success against Ellesse Andrews in the final, aiming to add another medal to Germany's tally in French soil.
