Winter weather - Fresh snow on the slopes and trails: start of the ski season

The snowfall of the past few days has ensured a successful start to the winter sports season in Bavaria. The new Tourism Minister Michaela Kaniber (CSU) visited the Steinplatte/Winklmoosalm - Waidring/Reit im Winkl region, Bavaria's largest ski area with 44 kilometers of pistes, on Thursday and expressed her delight. According to the ministry, there are 265 ski resorts in Bavaria with 658 ski lifts and cable cars. Among the largest are Garmisch-Classic (40 kilometers of pistes), Fellhorn/Kanzelwand - Oberstdorf/Riezlern (36 km), Sudelfeld (31 km) and Zugspitze (20 km). With 261 trails and 1643 kilometers of trails, the Bavarian Forest is Germany's largest cross-country skiing region.
