Healthcare group - Fresenius may not pay dividends and bonuses for 2023

The healthcare group Fresenius is not allowed to distribute a dividend to its shareholders for the current year due to government energy aid. The Management Board intends to withhold relief payments for hospitals of up to 300 million euros according to the current status, which is why there is a ban on dividends and bonuses for 2023, the DAX-listed company announced on Tuesday after the close of trading in Bad Homburg.

Fresenius also announced that no bonuses or other variable remuneration components may be paid to members of the Management Board due to the withheld payments. The Supervisory Board still has to approve the decision tomorrow, Wednesday (December 6).

Fresenius CEO Michael Sen had already indicated a dividend waiver at the beginning of November. The Group had received almost 160 million euros from the state by the end of September. By accepting the money, a legal threshold has been exceeded, meaning that no bonuses may be paid to managers or dividends to shareholders for this year.
