Soccer - Frenchwoman Lou-Ann Joly joins RB Leipzig
Lou-Ann Joly strengthens the midfield of RB Leipzig's women's team. The 22-year-old Frenchwoman joins from Stade de Reims in the Saxon city. She signed a contract until 30. June 2027, RB announced on Thursday. The U23-National player appeared in 21 out of 22 possible games in the French Division 1 last season, starting in 20 of them. During this time, she provided four assists for the central midfielder.
"Despite her young age, Lou-Ann already brings a lot of experience at a high level. On the number six position, she impresses with dynamism and strong tackling behavior. In addition, she has a high football intelligence and is able to carry the game forward as a box-to-box player and support our offense", said Viola Odebrecht, Head of Women's and Girls' Football at RB.
The RB women start their training camp on July 6 for the new season. Before that, the team will undergo performance tests and medical check-ups from July 1 to 3 under new head coach Jonas Stephan. The first test match is then scheduled for July 13 (3:00 PM) at Stadion am Bad in Markranstädt against Breslau. The second preparation match is scheduled for July 19 (3:00 PM) in Markranstädt against Pogon Stettin, before the team goes to the training camp in Markt Rieden three days later. A test against FC Bergheim is planned there on July 24. Before the Bundesliga start on August 30, there is a test match scheduled against Sparta Prag on August 10 (1:00 PM).
