19-year-old footballer from Bayern Munich, Sturmer Mathys, has a chance to join the Olympic Games. The French Football Association has revealed their preliminary squad for the games happening from July 24 to August 10, and Mathys is a part of it. There will be 25 players in the team, but this will be reduced to 18.
Apart from Mathys, RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba, SC Freiburg's Kiliann Sildilla, Borussia Mönchengladbach's Manu Kone, and VfB Stuttgart's Enzo Millot are also in the list. They were chosen by coach Thierry Henry alongside others.
France's upcoming opponents in the group stage of the Olympics are Colombia, Canada, and New Zealand. The Olympic Games allow U23 teams, but each team is permitted to have three older players.
