- Freiburg's Muslija, following his dismissal: "Errant actions committed"
Florent Muslija from Bundesliga team SC Freiburg admitted to a blunder following his expulsion from Kosovo's football team, but refuted whispers about a club outing. "I goofed up, and I'm personally accountable for it. I slipped away from the team lodging two days prior to the Nations League encounter against Cyprus without discussing it first," Muslija shared on Instagram, further clarifying, "I wasn't intending to stay up late partying, but instead, I wanted to grab a bite. Just needed a breather."
Muslija was let go by the Kosovo squad for the duel against Cyprus on Monday. "There's no denying, that was undoubtedly not the wisest and most intelligent move of my existence," the 26-year-old stated. He expressed remorse for his decision, saying, "Things like this shouldn't occur. And anyone who truly knows me recognizes that such incidents won't crop up again."
Before Kosovo's 4-0 triumph over Cyprus, German national team coach Franco Foda ousted Muslija and two other athletes from the crew, allegedly due to breaches of established regulations, according to the federation.
After his departure from the Kosovo squad, Muslija continued his football career with SC Freiburg in the German Bundesliga. Despite the incident, Muslija remains committed to upholding the professionalism required in both the Bundesliga and the national team.
