SC Freiburg secured their first win under new coach Julian Schuster in a friendly match, defeating French Ligue 1 side Racing Strasbourg 3-2 (2-1) at the SR Colmar stadium in front of around 5,000 spectators. Earlier in the day, the two teams had drawn 2-2 (1-2) in their first encounter.

Freiburg went behind early in the first game through goals from Gouela Doué (18') and Emmanuel Emegah (23'), but fought back to level the scores thanks to a penalty from Vincenzo Grifo (38') and a goal from Junior Adamu (67'). Adamu has now scored in three consecutive friendlies.

In the second match, Freiburg took the lead through a Florent Muslija penalty (12'), but Pape Diong (15') equalized with a header. Lucas Höler (32') made it two for Freiburg, with Philipp Lienhart (56') adding a third from a corner. Aboubacar Ali (81') pulled one back for Strasbourg following a goalkeeper error.

Freiburg were without Noah Atubolu, who had emergency appendix surgery the previous day, as well as Nicolas Höfler (tendon issues), Matthias Ginter (Achilles surgery), and Eren Dinkci, Maximilian Philipp, and Lukas Kübler (all carrying knocks), and Kenneth Schmidt (ill).

In the past, SC Freiburg has also visited Freiburg, their home city, for training camps or pre-season friendlies. After the match against Racing Strasbourg, Freiburg players expressed their gratitude to the loyal fans who traveled to support them in Colmar.
