In the recent Freiburg City Council election, the Greens suffered a decline in support but still managed to remain the strongest party, garnering 23.8% of the votes. This is 2.7 percentage points lower than their performance during the previous election.

The SPD secured the second position with 12.5%, while the CDU received 12.0%. The AfD witnessed a substantial increase, reaching 4.5%, yet falling short of the Left List and Independent Voters. Volt also joined the race with 3.8%. The reported voter turnout was recorded at 66.9%.
