It's been more than a decade and a half since someone apart from Christian Streich has led Freiburg in a competitive game. Osnabrück got demoted from 2. Bundesliga and has lost both of their opening matches this season in the 3. Liga.

On the other side, 1. FC Heidenheim engages with Regionalliga side FC Villingen in the initial round of the DFB-Pokal. Meanwhile, Oberliga team VfR Aalen hosts 2. Bundesliga squad FC Schalke 04. Both matches will start at 15:30 CET.

The SC Freiburg team, led by new coach Julian Schuster, will cross The bridge to face VfL Osnabrück in the DFB-Pokal. After being relegated to the 3. Liga, Osnabrück has yet to win a game this season, losing both of their opening matches.
