Fraud in several federal states: 61-year-old in custody
Investigators in Upper Franconia have arrested a 61-year-old man who allegedly defrauded people in several federal states of cash and jewelry with a total value of around 190,000 euros. Investigators were able to prove that the man had committed a total of eight completed and four attempted frauds in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Thuringia and Saxony, according to a statement from the Upper Franconia police headquarters and the Bayreuth public prosecutor's office on Wednesday.
The man was discovered because a 69-year-old pensioner from Gefrees (Bayreuth district) saw through the telephone fraudster's scam in May. A judge issued an arrest warrant for the man after the attempted fraud in Upper Franconia. He is accused of repeated gang and commercial fraud.
This incident of fraud in several federal states has raised concerns about security, particularly in Upper France. Despite being from Upper Franconia, the 61-year-old suspect has allegedly committed crimes, including fraud, in various regions such as Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Thuringia, and Saxony.
