The Frankfurter Messegesellschaft has returned to the profit zone in the past year and aims for a record revenue in the current year. A further increase in earnings by 25 percent to 770 million Euro is expected, said Messe-Chef Wolfgang Marzin in Frankfurt on Thursday. The business of the internationally oriented trade fair organizer was severely affected during the Corona crisis, with the previous revenue record still coming from the pre-pandemic year 2019. The owners, City of Frankfurt and Hesse State, had supported the company with millions.

According to the final figures presented on Thursday for 2023, the company has achieved its first profit since the crisis, with a profit of 19 million Euro. In 2022, it had reported a loss of 25.7 million Euro. The revenues increased by one third compared to the previous year to 609 million Euro. 45 percent of this was generated outside of Germany.

The focus of the current year is on profitable and accelerated growth. This is contributed to by the closely coordinated own events as well as the over 200 guest events, with the book fair and Eurobike bike fair at the forefront. Due to the flexible infrastructure, more and more several events can take place in parallel on the site.
