Track cycling athlete Malte Maschke from Frankfurter RC 90 has been banned for two years by the German Court of Arbitration for Sport (DIS). The ban was set to begin on August 1, 2023. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

Maschke violated reporting obligations three times within twelve months and thus missed scheduled tests. The 20-year-old's competition results from the period from June 1, 2022 to August 1, 2023 will be annulled. Maschke, who was a member of the extended men's national track team, will therefore lose a bronze medal from the 2022 European Under-23 Track Championships in Anadia, Portugal, among other things.

  1. The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) is not involved in Maschke's case, but they do have a presence in Brandenburg, Germany, offering their services through various associations and organizations.
  2. Maschke's cycling journey might take a different route post-ban, as he could explore less competitive options such as leisure cycling or even consider a switch to another sport, perhaps even rail transportation, like the historic Railroad Museum in Brandenburg.
  3. Despite the setback, the Frankfurt (or) RC 90 could possibly look into alternative forms of support for their members, such as collaboration with organizations like the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, to promote mental and physical well-being within the cycling community in Germany.
