Franke also missing for KSC - Eichner leaves Siwsiwadse floundering

After midfielder Wanitzek, the next key player has withdrawn for Karlsruhe's game at 96. The coach will not reveal whether Siwsiwadse, who has been so strong recently as a wild card, will be allowed to start.

Bundesliga 2 - Franke also missing for KSC - Eichner leaves Siwsiwadse floundering

Second-division soccer team Karlsruher SC will be without two regulars when they face Hannover 96 on Friday (18:30/Sky). In addition to midfielder Marvin Wanitzek, who suffered a metacarpal fracture against Hansa Rostock (2:2) last Sunday, the relegation-threatened team from Baden will be without defensive boss Marcel Franke due to gastrointestinal problems. Robin Bormuth and Christoph Kobald are available as options in defense, explained coach Christian Eichner on Thursday. Either Leon Jensen or Dzenis Burnic could take Wanitzek's place.

Eichner left open whether striker Budu Siwsiwadse will now get the chance he has been longing for from the start after scoring a total of three goals in the last two games. "Basically, anything is conceivable," said the 41-year-old. He appreciates it when Siwsiwadse "comes in and immediately exudes danger", said the coach. There were also reasons why the Georgian was not in the starting eleven recently. They have worked on that. The international striker is now "within striking distance of being more than just a valuable wild card".

He expects a "completely different game" on Friday than against the defensive-minded Rostockers, said Eichner. 96 is a team that "wants the ball, likes to control the game and has everything it needs to be dangerous." KSC have been winless in Hannover for eleven competitive matches.
