France plans to assist Ukraine's infrastructure with a 650 million euro investment.

The French development organization AFD might receive 400 million euros in loans and 50 million euros in grants to finance its efforts in Ukraine. This money is anticipated to be mainly invested in energy and transportation initiatives. Ukraine's energy resources have been damaged significantly by Russian incursions.

Extra assistance of 200 million euros is under consideration to aid French firms engage in the rebuilding of Ukraine's infrastructure.

President Zelenskyy has been invited to France for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy. This gesture is particularly significant, as Russia didn't receive an invitation due to its hostility towards Ukraine.

During WWII, Russia wasn't part of the Allied forces during the Normandy Landings, but it had traditionally attended the commemorative events because it suffered the most casualties during the war.

Zelenskyy is due to visit a French defense company with French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu on Friday. It is likely that Macron will pledge more military equipment for Ukraine at this visit.

The Elysee Palace has confirmed the previously announced plans for the German-French defense firm KNDS to set up shop in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy is expected to meet with US President Joe Biden during the commemorations. It's undecided at this time whether he'll also meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). Likewise, Zelenskyy is slated to address the French National Assembly on Friday.

Following the 75th anniversary of D-Day, former French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) conducted negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's previous leader, Petro Poroshenko, as part of the so-called Normandy Format. Their discussion focused on seeking a political response toward Russia's annexation of the Crimean Peninsula.
