France election: More than 100 candidates withdraw with RN in mind
Three government members have already announced their retirement, among them the Overseas Minister Marie Guevenoux and two State Secretaries. With a high voter turnout, there would have been potential three-way races in about 300 of the 577 constituencies in the second round. Anyone who receives at least 12.5% of the votes of registered voters in the first round qualifies for the second round.

According to AFP, more than 300 constituencies could witness three-way races due to a high voter turnout. With at least 12.5% of the votes in the first round, the Right-wing National Rally (RN) candidate in one constituency managed to qualify for the second round, securing a place among the top two contenders. France has 577 constituencies in total.
