Foxes win surprisingly confidently against Dinamo Bucharest

Just 48 hours after losing the Club World Cup final in Saudi Arabia, the Füchse Berlin handball team celebrated an important home win in the European League. The Bundesliga handball team won 33:30 (16:11) against the Romanian top team Dinamo Bucharest in front of 4319 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle on Tuesday evening. The Foxes thus took the lead in Group G. Berlin's best scorers were Tim Freihöfer with ten goals and Mathias Gidsel with six.

The game began on an even keel, with the hosts taking the lead after trailing 0:1. The Berliners were very stable in defense and keeper Dejan Milosavljev shone with several saves. As a result, they repeatedly forced Dinamo to make mistakes, which the home side promptly punished.

After the visitors were awarded a double time penalty, the Foxes were able to pull further ahead (14:10). And the Berlin club capitalized on this momentum, especially as the Romanians' defending did reveal some gaps. They picked up where they left off immediately after the break and even pulled nine goals ahead (25:16).

Their strength then waned somewhat. Three seven-meter penalties were missed and in the 51st minute, center Mijajlo Marsenic was shown the red card after three time penalties. And coach Jaron Siewert rested almost all of his regular players. Nevertheless, the Foxes managed to hold on to victory without any problems.

The victory over Dinamo Bucharest in the EHF European League marked a significant turnaround for Foxes Berlin, who had lost the Club World Cup final just 48 hours prior. In their next EHF European League match, Foxes Berlin will aim to maintain their lead in Group G against another tough opponent, possibly Handball Club Handball-Réseau de Franco-Allemand (HB Fenaks) from Luxembourg.
