Animals - Foxes in car repair shop go viral on Tiktok
Suddenly, two curious foxes stand in a Duisburg garage - and since Melvin Flor quickly pulls out his phone, his videos are now going viral on Tiktok. Roughly 500,000 clicks have been recorded on them by Wednesday afternoon. For a week now, the foxes have been coming back to the garage and creating new Tiktok content. In the comments under the videos, they are celebrated as exemplary apprentices. At first, Melvin Flor shared recordings with his around 1,000 followers mostly of old, rusty cars. The garage owner of a Duisburg car dealership works on them hobbyistically after work hours. One evening a week ago, a young fox had sat in front of the garage door, then came in, played with the hoist and oil cans, and even ventured into the master office.
"He ran around here as if he knew the place," Flor recounts. The second evening, there were already two young foxes there. Since then, they have been coming back to the garage regularly. "They come almost every minute at the same time."
"Are you coming to the job interview?"
In the comments, Flor is also praised for his lines in the videos. "Good evening, both of you. Are you coming to the job interview?", Flor greets the animals in one video. Later, he scares them away from the garage. "You can come back tomorrow, it's shift change in the pit. Have a nice evening, boys!"
What keeps attracting the foxes to the car dealership, the garage owner cannot say. Although some Tiktok comments suggest that the foxes could be hungry, Flor refuses to feed them. "They are wild animals, they should not get too used to me." He only once placed a bucket of water for them.
It has been known for years that there are foxes living in the Duisburg industrial area around the garage. There are many shrubs and hedges there - probably their den. Foxes have been seen there regularly. But never before have they been so bold and entered the buildings, Flor reports.
His new Tiktok fans, he wants to keep up with. If he works on his old cars again in the coming days after work, his phone will be ready for the visit of the little foxes, he promises.
