Foxes beat Hamburg's handball team thanks to second half
The Füchse Berlin secured an important and hard-fought home win in the German Handball League. The team from the capital won 37:31 (16:18) against HSV Hamburg in front of 9,000 spectators in the sold-out Max-Schmeling-Halle on Sunday after improving their performance in the second half. The Foxes thus remain at the top of the league. The best Berlin scorers were Hans Lindberg with ten goals and Lasse Andersson with nine.
However, the visitors got off to a better start, while the Foxes appeared unfocused and made a number of mistakes in attack. They quickly trailed 1:3. The keeper Dejan Milosavljev, who has been so strong in recent weeks, hardly got a touch of the ball. At the other end, the Berliners repeatedly failed with open shots against the former Fox Jens Vortmann in Hamburg's goal.
Almost every Hamburg attack was a goal. The Hanseatic side was able to open up a gap of just three goals in the first half. And although the Foxes improved offensively, the defensive problem remained. The hosts were not even in the lead in the first half.
After the break, however, the Foxes went to work with a completely different body language. The defense acted more consistently and Lasse Ludwig, who was now in goal, shone with a number of saves. They then took the lead for the first time with a 5:0 run. And they went on to finish the game in commanding fashion.
Despite HSV Hamburg starting stronger, Foxes Berlin adjustments in the second half led to a significant shift. The Berlin team, with Hans Lindberg scoring ten goals and Lasse Andersson adding nine, securely defeated HSV Hamburg 37-31 in the Bundesliga, maintaining their lead in the league.
