A victory for SpVgg Greuther Fürth preventedly spared SC Paderborn from their first loss and relinquishment of the 2nd Bundesliga summit position. The duel between the second and first-placed clubs concluded in a 1:1 tie (0:0) following an engaging contest at Fürth's Sportpark Ronhof on matchday 3. Both teams upheld their unbeaten records after three games, with Fürth accumulating five points and Paderborn amassing seven.

The hosts took the initiative in the presence of 10,261 spectators shortly after halftime through Luca Itter (49th minute). Following a corner and an excellent assist from captain Branimir Hrgota, the defender finished within the box. Paderborn's substitute Adriano Grimaldi restored parity in the 81st minute, exploiting an error by Fürth's goalkeeper Nahuel Noll who attempted to clear the ball from the box. The substitute Grimaldi obstructed the ball and scored from approximately 15 meters.

Notably, the visiting team had the upper hand during the early stages and squandered numerous chances. They frequently selected a different pass instead of securing a decisive and successful conclusion. The Fürth defense remained resilient until Grimaldi was granted the opportunity to equalize and executed confidently.

The team that Paderborn sent as a substitute, Adriano Grimaldi, equalized the score in the 81st minute after exploiting an error by Fürth's goalkeeper. Despite having the upper hand in the early stages, Paderborn failed to capitalize on their numerous chances in the Second Bundesliga match against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
