Four seriously injured in chemical park accident

- Four seriously injured in chemical park accident

In a workplace accident at a chemical park in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, four men were seriously injured this morning, two of them critically. According to police, employees of an external company were conducting industrial cleaning operations on large containers at the premises of a company based in Bitterfeld-Wolfen.

After the cleaning operations, the four men, aged between 30 and 49, complained of feeling unwell and shortness of breath, police said. They were treated on-site by emergency services. Due to the deterioration of their health, they were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance and helicopter, as reported.

All four employees are now in hospital with serious injuries, with the condition of two men, aged 46 and 49, assessed as critical by police.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration involved in investigations

According to police, the cleaning operations were carried out with safety measures in place, such as protective suits and full-face masks. The cause of the accident is currently unknown. Alongside the criminal police, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also involved in the ongoing investigations, it was reported.

The four individuals injured during the cleaning operations were a mix of men and boys, with ages ranging from 30 to 49. Despite the safety measures in place, including protective suits and full-face masks, two of the men, both over 46 years old, are currently in critical condition in the hospital.
