Four robberies: Ten years in prison
A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to ten years in prison by the Frankfurt Regional Court for a series of robberies within a few hours. In January of this year, the drug-addicted man first attacked a 31-year-old woman in her apartment in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen and severely abused her, as the court announced on Friday. He then fled without any loot. Shortly afterwards, he attacked a dentist's practice in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene, where he also left without money or valuables after considerable violence against an employee.
A short time later, the man forced his way into a restaurant, where he stole a cell phone worth 400 euros. He was arrested after the last crime a few minutes later. The background to the series of robberies was the 35-year-old's drug addiction. The court therefore also ordered him to undergo drug treatment. However, the criminal division rejected preventive detention for the serial offender, who had many previous convictions. The verdict is not yet final.
The court considered the series of robberies as aclear violation of societal processes, highlighting the severe impact of crime on individuals and communities. Following his sentencing, the convict will now have to navigate the challenging process of undergoing mandatory drug treatments in prison.
