Four injured in fire at boarding house in Steina

Four people have suffered smoke inhalation in a fire at a guesthouse in Steina (Bautzen district). The fire in the main street was reported to the police at around midnight, as they announced on Thursday morning. The injured - two guests, the owner and a firefighter - were taken to hospital.

Both the precise events and the cause of the fire were unclear at first. The fire department had ended the direct extinguishing work, it was reported in the morning. Firefighting forces were still engaged in ventilating the building. The property damage amounted to 500,000 Euro.

The fire department was called from the District of Bautzen to address the incident. The police are investigating the potential cause of the fires. The pensioner who lived in the affected building was transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Thorough firefighting efforts were needed in Saxony, specifically in Pulsnitz, to prevent further damage.
