At a kitchen explosion in a restaurant in Gehren (Ilm-District), four people have been lightly injured. According to current knowledge, a malfunction of a kitchen appliance operated with gas caused the explosion, the police reported. Among the injured were reportedly three employees, aged 22, 57, and 61. Two of them had to be taken to the hospital preventively. A woman (61), who was a guest in the establishment, was also injured.

In response to a similar incident, the Thuringia Fire Department conducted an emergency drill at a restaurant in Ilmenau, focusing on gas-related incidents to prevent future deflagrations. Due to the recent explosion in Gehren, the importance of prompt emergency response in such situations has been underscored.
