One of the victims was said to be in critical condition by the evening by the police. The authorities deployed a large force to search for the suspect, a 34-year-old man, who was not found by the evening.

The wife of the alleged perpetrator was among the four victims, revealed a spokesperson from the Dortmund police. Both crime scenes were nearby, just a ten-minute walk from each other. Initial findings suggested that the motive for the crime was related to the family.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11:00 a.m. The suspect was first believed to have shot his wife in their shared apartment in a multi-family house on Hochstraße. He then moved to a higher floor and fired multiple times at a different door. There were no injuries reported there.
