- Four individuals apprehended for orchestrating an armed heist.
Due to a significant burglary in Kiel, four individuals were apprehended in Berlin. These four culprits, comprising three males and a female, ranging in age from 19 to 26, allegedly swindled a 27-year-old man of his money, mobile phone, and rental vehicle in Kiel's Schleswig-Holstein state capital back in May. Prior to their arrests, authorities conducted searches of their residences.
Upon their apprehension, three of the suspects were held in custody, while the fourth was freed. During the police operation, authorities seized numerous mobile phones, two firearms with ammunition, and various illicit substances. Post-investigation, the trio was released.
Victim Falls for a Ruse
Initially, investigators believe that the 27-year-old traveled to Kiel in a rental car to meet a woman he had connected with online, carrying a substantial sum of money. While waiting at a designated meeting spot for his online companion, a man appeared who threatened him with what authorities describe as a weapon.
Simultaneously, four other men approached and stole the man's backpack, containing his cash, phone, and rental car keys. The men then drove the 27-year-old to a secluded dirt road outside of Kiel and brutally assaulted him.
The group, armed with their weapon, then coerced the man into performing embarrassing acts and recorded their degrading actions. They demanded a hefty sum within 48 hours and fled the scene with the rental vehicle. The vehicle was later discovered on a parking lot several days later.
After the assault, the victim was left without transportation and had to find alternative means to reach safety. In an attempt to prevent further harm, he reported the incident to local authorities and requested a rental car to move around.
Despite the victim's precautions, the stolen rental car was used in various criminal activities before being recovered.
