This also includes a so-called specialist against truancy. They look specifically at the situation of pupils who are completely or frequently absent from lessons.

According to a ministry spokesperson, the remaining vacant position is to be filled in the coming year and is intended for elementary school in challenging situations. According to the ministry, the decision as to where the specialists will be deployed will be made by the city as the local provider of public youth welfare services. Ludwigshafen had come into focus because 39 of the 126 first-graders at an elementary school there had to repeat the school year.
