Bundesliga 2 - Fortuna coach Thioune still has personnel worries at the end of the year
The personnel worries at second division fifth-placed Fortuna Düsseldorf are not getting any less as the first half of the season draws to a close. In the last competitive match of the year on Saturday (13:00/Sky) at 1. FC Magdeburg, soccer coach Daniel Thioune will probably have to do without Isak Johannesson and Nicolas Gavory in addition to several long-term injuries. Johannesson is suffering from an infection and Gavory is plagued by muscular problems. Thioune made it clear on Thursday that the Icelandic player Johannesson, who started last week's cup win in Magdeburg with two assists, will not play: "It's going to be very tight. At the moment, I'm ruling out the possibility of him taking part in the game."
There is still some hope for the Frenchman Gavory. "We'll have to wait and see with him over the next few hours or maybe even the next day," said Thioune, who also had some good news with regard to the restart in January. Long-term injured players Marcel Sobottka, André Hoffmann and Matthias Zimmermann should be back at full fitness for the start of training on January 2. "That's very positive news for us," said Thioune, whose team is one of the promotion candidates despite a very small professional squad and many injuries at the end of the first half of the season.
