Forsberg successor: RB Leipzig wants to sign Zaragoza

RB Leipzig have found a successor for Emil Forsberg in Spain. According to dpa information, the Bundesliga club is pressing ahead with the signing of Bryan Zaragoza. The 22-year-old is currently under contract with FC Granada, but can be released due to a release clause. Spanish media are already reporting that Leipzig have offered Zaragoza a contract until 2028. The clause is also said to be worth 14 million euros.

Zaragoza, who is only 1.64 meters tall, made his debut for the Spanish national team in October and is considered the high-flyer of the La Liga season. Primarily deployed on the left wing, Zaragoza would add a new flavor to Leipzig's play and possibly a little more unpredictability.

However, taking on Forsberg's legacy is a mammoth task. The Swedish international is one of the cup winners' most iconic figures and has been at Leipzig since January 2015. At the beginning of next year, the 32-year-old will move to sister club New York and round off his career there.

RB Leipzig's pursuit of Bryan Zaragoza could see them strengthen their squad in the Champions League. With Forsberg set to join Manhattan-based New York City FC, Zaragoza could potentially fill his shoes, bringing his impressive skills from the left wing to the Champions League stage, attempting to emulate Forsberg's impact.
